Did you know about VECC?

In 2009, Vilnius was chosen as the EU's European Capital of Culture. This was in the midst of the worst economic downturn since the great depression.

There were many wonderful events that year, but few visitors attended. The national airline went out of business as well. The world didn't get the chance to experience it.

2009 was also the year marking the 1000 year anniversary of Lithuania's name.
