Please let us know if you've been affected by the ash cloud over Europe this week. Is it gone yet?

Vincas reports the conditions last week: The huge cloud of volcanic ash that is causing all the problems can not be seen with the human eye, it must be detected with instraments. This is one reason it is causing so many problems for aviation. The only place where you can actually see it and where the sky is gray is in Iceland south of the volcano itself. This is where the volcanic ash is to big and heavy to be carried up into the atmosphere. North of the volcano the skies are clear in Iceland. Here in Lithuania we have had a string of clear sunny days.
I wonder if the calm skies contributed to a smaller carbon footprint for this year? Maybe a small silver lining...
I know this post is a little late but I will just comment. ..Just by chance I was in klaipeda when the ash cloud hit Lithuania. I had to stay 6 days more which turned out to be fantastic for me. Eventually I returned to Spain on the 22nd April flying out of Palanga via London and on to Malaga without any problems. Amazing....with all flights on time. Then this week my girlfriend was here in spain and the same thing happened. London was closed and she had to stay an extra 3 days. It seems that this summer will be more or less of the same. It seem a sister volcano situated very close to Eyjafjoell called katyia will erupt soon. Even Eyjafjoell can keep erupting over the next year. Who knows. I'm in lithuania for July and August so who knows, with any luck I might be there until Christmas.....
Thanks for the report on the scene Tim! For many travelers, there are headaches but not if you really wanted to stay longer!! Good luck on the rest of your travels this year.
